Does pebbled leather always have to be embossed?

No, pebbled leather doesn’t always need to be embossed. When leather is tumbled, it naturally develops a pebbled texture on the grain, with the size and shape of the pebbles varying depending on the type of leather and its tannage. This process can create a beautiful, organic texture without the need for embossing.

However, many of the pebbled leathers available in the market are embossed because it’s a quicker, cheaper, and more standardized method used in mass manufacturing. That said, naturally pebbled leathers—like shrunken or milled grain leathers—offer a more authentic, unique feel, which is why they are a personal favorite of ours.
